Composition, Arranging & Orchestration

I offer individual lessons focused on writing music in a clear, practical, and musically grounded way.
Lessons are open to students of all ages and levels, from beginners approaching composition for the first time to advanced students and professionals working on specific projects.

The content and pace of the lessons are adapted to each student’s background, experience, and goals. Depending on the needs, the focus can be on composition, arranging, orchestration, or a combination of the three.

Lessons can address both technical aspects (harmony, form, counterpoint, orchestration, notation) and artistic decision-making (style, coherence, clarity, narrative, sound world), always through concrete musical examples and hands-on work.

Rather than following a fixed method, the lessons are shaped around real musical material: compositions in progress, arrangements for specific ensembles, orchestration exercises, mock-ups, or portfolio pieces. The aim is to develop autonomy, critical listening, and the ability to make informed musical choices.

Possible areas of focus include:

- Composition for acoustic, jazz, classical, pop and hybrid ensembles
- Arranging for small ensembles, big band, symphonic orchestras, and mixed line-ups
- Orchestration and instrumental writing across acoustic, hybrid, and virtual contexts, including mock-ups and DAW-based workflows
- Form, harmony, voicing, texture, and notation
- Project-based work (pieces, arrangements, mock-ups, portfolios, applications)

Lessons are available as ongoing individual tuition or short-term, goal-oriented coaching.

Music Theory & Ear Training

I teach music theory as a practical and creative language rather than as a purely abstract system. My teaching method integrates theory, ear training, analysis and writing, helping students understand how music works and how to use it consciously in performance, composition and arranging.

The courses are designed for instrumentalists, composers, arrangers, songwriters and music students from different backgrounds — classical, jazz, pop or film music — who want to build solid foundations, deepen their understanding of harmony and form, or develop more advanced analytical and compositional skills.

The program is structured in three progressive levels, from basic musical literacy to advanced harmony and composition, with a clear and coherent path and no unnecessary complexity or stylistic dogma.

Level 1 — Foundations

Musical literacy and basic tonal language

This level focuses on musical literacy, basic rhythm and metre, the construction of scales and intervals, and an introduction to tonal harmony. It is designed to build a solid and reliable foundation for further theoretical, analytical and practical work

Level 2 — Intermediate

Tonal language, harmony and functional writing

This level develops a deeper understanding of tonal harmony, melodic structure, modulation and form. Students learn to analyse and write functional harmony, harmonise melodies, and work with scales, modes and basic compositional techniques.

Level 3 — Advanced

Advanced harmony, form, counterpoint and composition

This level focuses on advanced harmonic language, chromaticism, modulation, counterpoint, form and composition. It is designed for students who want to reach a pre-professional level of analytical and compositional competence
